We would recommend the school site as your first port of call for a wide range of information on the school.
The OPSA site is designed to provide complementary material of parental interest.

OPSA Events

The 2007-2008 rugby parking season has now closed, having raised a magnificent total of £8,165.10, this in what we expected to be a 'thin' season.

Our enormous thanks to all our regular and newcomer stewards who have so willingly and generously supported this initiative this year.

Liz, who has 'master-managed' the initiative for the past several years, and Peter, who has run the website and bookings system since its inception, are now moving on; and we would like to take this opportunity of expressing our thanks to everybody, particularly to our team of fellow-parents for their loyalty, preparedness to be prevailed upon, and unfailing good humour in the face of all sorts of adversity (mainly weather). We wish our successors the same goodwill and success.

New stewards are always welcome(d). Please contact OPSA to volunteer your services.

If you need convincing…

6.5 reasons to volunteer as an OPSA rugby parking volunteer

Saturday was my first ever appearance as a rugby parking volunteer, standing in for my other half who was unavoidably detained on a drinking - sorry - business trip. Exhausted by 9 days of single parenthood, I requested a totally no-brain job. This consisted of collecting the money, handing drivers a map and saying in what I hoped was an authoritative voice 'Please note we close at 7pm SHARP'. Having managed this without a hitch for 90 minutes I can now say with confidence that helping with rugby parking has a number of benefits - some rather unexpected:

  • you get to chat to lots of nice Orleans Park parents
  • you get to banter with lots of handsome young Welshmen (who make up a high percentage of the crowd at any match)
  • you get time to think in the gaps between chatting and cars arriving
  • everyone is very nice to you as they are so grateful to have arrived at the right place
  • you get to to do what those blokes on cross-channel ferries do to you, such as pointing imperiously to very small parking spaces and suddenly holding up your hand for them to do an emergency stop
  • you wear a fluorescent tabard
  • you get a very nice warm feeling raising money for the school
  • ... and you get a nice email thanking you afterwards.

So if you've been hestitating, give it a go!

You can now have the School Newsletter emailed directly to you. Just send your email address in to school, to JFoy@op.richmond.lgfl.net, with your request to be included on the mailing list. The Newsletter comes in Adobe Acrobat format and averages some 250kb, so you may need to ensure that there is enough space in your mailbox each week

We're always in need of volunteers to share secretarial, publicity and organisational duties. Please contact OPSA through the School Office if you would be interested in helping out or want to know more about OPSA and its activities, or forward your details via email: webresponse@opsa.org.uk
